Early Reviews of Native Species Are In!

Well, at least some reviews. Nine on Amazon, and 20 on Goodreads. None so far on Audible, though I know a few people have listened to the audiobook. (It's a hoot and a half, I can assure you.)

I'm delighted with the reviews received so far, mostly from my fellow authors, book influencers, and friends. I've posted a few of them on my website, so that, in the unlikely event that potential readers actually find it, they'll be more inclined to give it a try.

But now it's your turn. If you haven't actually read it, do give it a try. It's always challenging to find time to read; but turn off the TV, crack open your Kindle or paperback, and I promise, you'll soon be gripped like a mongoose by a boa constrictor. In a fun kind of way.

If audiobooks are your thing, reach out, and I'll get you a promo code so you can download it from Audible for free. Consider that a limited time offer for the first 10 people to ask for it. If I've already given you a promo code, then by God, use it! Audible only gives me 25 codes, and I can't get any more until at least 10 codes have been used to download the book.

But most importantly, if you have read it, please rate it on Amazon! (Or on Audible, if you've listened to it.) You needn't write a review (though it would be very welcome), you needn't give it five stars, and you needn't use your name. As an indie author, I can tell you that my book will only gain traction if potential readers see that other people are reading it. So any ratings--even mediocre ones--are gold!

Do find some time to rate it, whenever you can. And thanks!

Originally Published September 27, 2026 A Subway Ride I’ve been riding the NYC subway my whole life; teaching at NYU, I still do. Like most New Yorkers, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected when riding the subway. My novel, Native Species, while set in Los Angeles, offers a very similar ride: You’ll travel both above and below ground, with many stops along the way. You’ll see some amazing sights. Some you’ll wish you hadn’t seen. You’ll meet a lot of characters. Many are warm, charming, and...

What kind of place did he move into? Judge for yourself, but I know what it will look like soon: A book place. A Book Place, Soon! Not a library, it's my friend's apartment! And he has many more shelves! My kid is contemplating marriage. I mean, they bought a condo this year; can marriage be far off?...

(Sorry, but it’s the only one I’ve got, and I may never write anything better.) (In my defense, it DID win a Kirkus Star.) You: He’s never going to shut up about that star, is he? Me: Not a chance. Anywho, I found myself on family vacation this week at Bethany Beach, Delaware, one of the most beautiful beaches on the East...
